Kallam Anji Reddy

K. A . Reddy left his job in 1969 with state owned Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd to set up Uniloids, which used to produce drug under patents overseas for Indian markets. Then Reddy started two other ventures , Standard Organics and Veminor in 1980 and 1981 respectively , before finally building Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories. It draw awe among the market players when it branded formulations at half the prevailing market price. Dr. Reddy got USFDA nod for Ibuprofen in 1987 which acted as a catalyst of its growth. Dr. Reddy’s recently did an acquisition of Betapharm in Germany for Rs. 2250 crore. This year it replaced Ranbaxy Laboratories and transformed Dr. Reddy’s into India’s largest Pharmaceutical company.
