Azim H Premji

He was a student of electrical engineering in Stanford University , when he received a call from home of his father’s demise. He came back and at the age of 21 years and took control of the $ 2 million vegetable oil business.
Over the next decades Premji has turned his company into one of the biggest software giants. In a certain point in time Wipro also forayed into hardware when IBM left India in 1977. The company has grown through acquisition and mergers over the years. His small IT business has grown through a series of inorganic deals or “ String of pearls”.
Premji , a recipient of Michael Faraday Medal has also divested himself into greater cause of spreading the light of education. Azim Premji Foundation focuses on improving the quality of primary education across the country.
Today WIPRO is a soaps to software conglomerate and valued at around $ 3 billion.
