Tata Tele Services to venture into GSM

The government had allowed telecom firms to provide under both Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and Global System for Mobile (GSM). The company has sought permission from department of telecom to offer GSM based mobile services across country under its unified access services license. The company has applied for GSM spectrum under new DoT guidelines, which allow existing licensees to use spectrum and offer services in both GSM and CDMA.
