He started with a single store in Goa in the year 97 , which has evolved into Pantaloons Retail today. It has five distinct retail categories and around 250 stores throughtout the country. His other group company, Future Group covers the entire consumption space. He has signed closed to 10 million sg ft of retail space to be operational by 2008 end, which is 20 to 30 % of all modern retail space coming up in the country in the next three years. It is not only large format stores that he house, the mass retailer also have small discount stores as fair price value store. He has recently forayed into finance with future money , giving personal loans for a variety of purposes.
